Workman's CompensationFor the last 35 years, we have helped thousands of patients across Indiana with work-related injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, get back to their jobs safely and in a timely manner. Our goal and priority are to reduce the risk of re-injury and help them return to work as quickly as possible. While some injuries and conditions may require surgery, others can often be treated conservatively, utilizing a combination of medication, splinting and/or therapy. Our surgeons will diagnose and evaluate your employee’s injury or condition to determine the type of treatment that is most appropriate for them. The Indiana Hand Center is able to provide immediate access for your employees who need same-day care due to a work-related injury or condition. We’re also committed to working together with case managers to outline patients’ restrictions and help you determine a realistic employability level. Case managers are always welcome to accompany their employees during appointments at The Indiana Hand Center. We are the largest free-standing facility in the world specializing in complete care for problems and injuries related to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. The Indiana Hand Center’s board certified orthopedic surgeons are leaders in their field and have pioneered surgical techniques and treatments utilized and taught throughout the world. It has earned local, national and international recognition for its cutting-edge developments, commitment to teaching and education, clinical research and contributions to peer-reviewed literature. Our highly skilled, certified occupational therapists have extensive training and expertise enabling them to design individualized therapy plans to help our patients restore function in the shortest period of time possible. The Indiana Hand Center also conducts tests such as EMGs and X-rays at all of our locations. Workman’s Compensation Patient AppointmentsIn order to accommodate you and your patients, we will provide same-day appointments. Call our office at 317-875-9105 or 800-888-HAND and select option “5”. Our patient representatives will work with you to schedule an appointment. For patient emergencies, call either of these numbers, and select “zero”. Our surgeons are always on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies. If you need to speak to one of our workman’s compensation representatives, call 317-471-4226. If our representatives are unable to take your call immediately, they will return your call quickly. Work Status ReportingWe will work closely with you to ensure timely communication regarding your patients’ care at The Indiana Hand Center. Our work status form will be sent to your workman’s compensation case manager in less than 24 hours of seeing your patient. Indiana Hand Center LocationsOur main office is located at 8501 Harcourt Road across from St. Vincent Hospital. We also have locations at Riley Hospital in downtown Indianapolis; Clarian West Medical Center in Avon; Kokomo; Mooresville; Terre Haute. We will diagnose and treat workman’s compensation related cases at any of our 6 locations across central Indiana. Translation For Patients Available in All LanguagesIf you have employees who do not speak English or are hearing impaired and require care and treatment at The Indiana Hand Center, we are able to provide translation in any language during their appointments. Please make us aware of language translation needs when making patient appointments. Permanent Partial Impairment Ratings (PPI)The Indiana Hand Center’s orthopedic surgeons provide permanent partial impairment evaluations for all of our workman’s compensation patients. Our ratings are based upon the Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment by the American Medical Association. Independent Medical Evaluations (IME)The Indiana Hand Center’s board certified orthopedic surgeons are often asked to provide comprehensive independent medical evaluations for injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Theses evaluations are conducted to determine if prior diagnosis and treatment were accurate and whether further care/treatment may be necessary. Continuing Education For Workman’s Compensation RepresentativesThe Indiana Hand Center is dedicated to providing ongoing continuing education. Each year we conduct seminars on topics related to the upper extremity which are geared toward workman’s compensation professionals such as case managers, physicians, nurses, employers and insurance carrier representatives. Seminar topics vary, and we are typically able to provide continuing education credits through the Indiana Commission For Case Managers. Making Your Workstations Ergonomically CorrectThe Indiana Hand Center has trained specialists who can work with your company to ensure you have ergonomically correct workstations.
